How does the 12/26-IT strategy strategy work ?
The 12/26-IT strategy is centered around the exponential moving average (EMA) crossover, specifically when the 12-period EMA crosses above the 26-period EMA. To confirm the buy signal, several conditions must be met:
- The 12/26 EMA crossover occurs.
- The relative strength index (RSI 14) stays within a pre-defined upper and lower range.
- The moving average convergence divergence (MACD 12, 26) is positive and above its signal line.
Traders have two entry options:
- 12/26 Crossover: This option triggers an entry solely based on the crossover and the stated conditions.
- Recent 12/26 Crossover and Closing Above Pivot Point: This requires a recent crossover within a certain number of lookback candles and a close above the resistance line, in addition to the above conditions.
For exits, three options are available:
- Trailing Stop Loss: Set at a percentage below a selected high, low, open, or close.
- Closing below a user-defined EMA/SMA: An exit is executed when the price closes below the selected average.
- 12/26 Crossdown: Triggers an exit when the 12-period EMA crosses below the 26-period EMA.
Resistance lines are plotted using candles to the left and right, with the user having the option to define these values. Target exits can also be set, allowing partial sales at predetermined profit percentages.
