How does the MA Simple Strategy with SL & TP & ATR Filters strategy work ?
The MA Simple Strategy with SL & TP & ATR Filters is a trend-following system that utilizes multiple Moving Averages (MAs) to determine the market trend and initiate trades accordingly. The strategy involves the following steps:
- Four MAs of different lengths are used to ascertain a trend. A long position is opened when the shortest MA (MA1) is greater than the shorter MA (MA2), which is in turn greater than the normal MA (MA3), which is also greater than the longer MA (MA4).
- A short position is taken when MA1 is less than MA2, and MA2 is less than MA3, which is less than MA4, reflecting a downward trend.
- Positions are closed based on the reversal of the trend, the hit of a stop loss, or the achievement of a take profit level, which partially closes 50% of the quantity.
- An Average True Range (ATR) filter is applied to avoid false signals in low volatility scenarios. This is determined by comparing the current ATR to its Simple Moving Average (SMA).
- Traders have the flexibility to select the type of MA used for the strategy. Options include SMA, EMA, WMA, and others.
- Stop loss can be set based on a fixed percentage, ATR value, or risk-reward ratio. Trailing stop loss option is also available.
It's designed for longer time frames and includes configurable parameters for the trader's specific risk management and trading style preferences.
